In Loving Memory

It is with a very heavy heart that I make this post. Today, we lost our much loved Callie. She had seemingly been on the road to recovery from her infections, even got an A- OK from the vet 2 weeks ago, but apparently looks were deceiving. Callie had continued to not have much of an appetite, but I thought that was from all the meds she had taken, plus we had started her on a "mature dog" food for more nutrients. She would eat when we were all outside, so I didn't think much of it. Well, today, when John went to feed her, he couldn't help but notice how swollen and hard her belly was. When I saw it, I was shocked! This was not how she had looked a few days ago- not even the night before!! After dropping Cooper off at daycare, I immediately took her to the vet. After and xray showed fluid, the doc said they would have to drain some fluid to see what it was, and potentially do surgery. I had to go to work, so they kept me posted via cell phone. At aprx 11:15 am, I got the call I had hoped I would NOT get- they had found a tumor on her pancreas, and the cancer had already spread to her liver. There was nothing to be done. I was (am) devestated. So, I went to the vet's office and sadly said my goodbyes to my sweet girl.
I want everyone to know that Dr. Thames and all his staff at Labahn Vet Clinic were so wonderful to me, and I would like to thank them from the bottom of my heart! In the span of about 3 hours, my faithful friend was gone. I can still hardly believe it. She was (is) a part of our family for only 5 years, but she will remain in our hearts FOREVER! I LOVE YOU, CALLIE!
